Mining Centre of Faymoreau
At the Mining Centre of Faymoreau you can take a surprising journey into the depths of the mine. There is a museum, mining village and outstanding modern stain-glassed windows by Carmelo Zagari in the Miners Chapel.

Journey into the mine to re-live the moving life of the miners. Discover a local village with a long coal mining history.
The village of Faymoreau was home to coal mining from 1827 until 1958. Men, their sons and grandsons descended into the belly of the earth, putting their lives in danger, for 130 years to extract the black gold. In 2000 the Mining Centre was opened to enable you to experience the incredible life of the miners of the region and the history of coal.
To complement the three parts of the visit: the museum, the mining village and the stained glass windows of Carmelo Zagari, the Mining Centre also puts on themed exhibitions and activities each year for families and children.
