At the Mining Centre of Faymoreau you can take a surprising journey into the depths of the mine. There is a museum, mining village and outstanding modern stain-glassed windows by Carmelo Zagari in the Miners Chapel.

The Abbey of Maillezais
At the heart of the Marais Poitevin you can discover the preserved remains of the Benedictine abbey of Maillezais.
Built in 1003 on an island in the Gulf of Pictons, this former cathedral/fortress hosted scholars and artists François Rabelais and Agrippa d'Aubigné.
Imposing and well-preserved the remains of the Abbey include kitchen, dining room, pantry, cellar and salt depository. -
The Abbey of Nieul sur l'Autize
Nestled in the heart of a ‘Petite Cité de Caractère’ the abbey of Saint Vincent at Nieul sur l’Autize is a jewel of 11th century Romanesque art. Cloisters with stubby arches, gemelled columns decorated with centaurs and birds, gothic bays, a real cultural visit for young and old.

The Maison de la Meunerie (Mill house)
Located in the heart of Nieul sur l’Autize, not far from the Abbey, the Mill house is a site dedicated to traditional skills in a refreshing and natural setting. Restored by the association "Gueurnivelles" the mill dates from 1728 and welcomes you to visit.
